Brian walked in the door from a long day at a conference.
Me: How was your day? Was it interesting? Did you get stuff? (hoping for a conference bag)
Brian: It was ok, but it was obvious there were budget cuts this year. The brownies were awesome though! Last year, they gave away laptops, and lots of fun stuff. This year they didn’t give anything away.
Me: (pointing at the counter, excitedly) Wait, what’s this? Did you get a conference bag??????
He graciously and possibly ambivalently, emptied it out and handed the bag over.
I took it down to the dungeon sewing studio and checked it out. It is eco friendly (fabulous) but not strong or sturdy and CERTAINLY not cute. There are no pockets, which is just silly. Looking through my bookshelf of fabrics, I pulled out a gorgeously thick purple fabric that I had bought on a whim when it was super duper ooper on sale at Joann’s Fabric store.
I sewed a two layered "slipcover" that slid over the canvas bag, and added an additional 5 pockets in the process. Whoa, right? There was no math used in this project, just a lot of eyeballing it methods.
The turquoise fabric flower was Pin-spired from my "Sew Amazing" board.
Isn’t that a great pillow flower? Now that I know how to make that type of flower, I can move the pin into my "I pinned it and did it" board.
Do you like bag makeovers as much as I do?
