Well hello, my pretty little drawer! Aren’t you fancy? I know you weren’t always this lovely. In fact, I still remember the day I saw you down in the basement of ReHouse, just laying on the floor looking so lonely and out of place. I imagine it’s been a hard life these past few years. Everyone wants a place to belong, and when your dresser leaves you stranded it’s hard to imagine a better future.
All you needed was a little bit of cleaning, a little bit of sanding, a LOT of pretty paper and some yellow paint. A day at the “spa” for some sanding, glazing, and sealing. The finishing touch? A beautiful glass doorknob for a little bling. I know you didn’t think you could pull it off, but GIRL you look good!
Forget those days and weeks you spent laying on the concrete floor! Your future looks bright bringing clutter under control in someone’s living room or bed room. Don’t worry…I’ll go back to get your friends.
The ReHouse provided me with the drawer, but all “spa” products were things that I had on hand. The ReHouse has dozens of lonely drawers looking for a new home priced around $20. Check out the Pinterest board for other inspiration for repurposing a drawer. This little drawer will be on display/ for sale at the ReHouse retail location at 469 West Ridge Road, Rochester, NY 14615.
This turned out SO pretty! I have kept my eyes open for more drawers, but I prefer these smaller sized ones and I haven’t had much luck lately. You really did a great job giving this one a new life 🙂
I LOVE it! My question is, how/where would you use it? Does it sit on a shelf? I’m just looking for some ideas of how this would be displayed. Thanks!
Great question! My best friend asked me the same thing, so I’m thinking I need to stage a photo shoot and take pictures of the drawer in use. I don’t have a spot for it in my own home, but I could see it holding rolled up towels or toilet paper in the bathroom. Another idea is to stack books or magazines inside, and then leave on the floor near a rocking chair. Maybe some casters on the bottom so it could be tucked away under the couch with kids toys or games….This is fun! What other ways could a pretty drawer be used?
On Big Trash Week, I find throw-away desks in pretty bad shape and usually too big for my little-girl truck, so the drawers are fair game. Thanks for the wonderful idea!!!
Yes! That is a great way to pick up some drawers on the side of the road. One time I saw a very old and damaged sewing machine table at an estate sale and it was missing all of those sweet little drawers on the side. Someone got to it before me!
What a !cute makeover! I love the colors and the knob!
