If you saw this creepy picture in a pile of free junk, would you have grabbed it?

It is a solid piece of wood with a funky carved edge all the way around it, but that’s pretty much the only thing worth mentioning.  It came with a picture hanger on the back, so someone had this up on the wall.

Of course I took it home with me.  I painted a quick coat of primer over the little ladies to get a blank slate to work with, but the surface started to peel away from the wood.

Oh.My.Goodness.   Someone had glued down a calendar page from 1982 onto the board for some cheap wall decoration!  That sounds like something I would do!

I soaked the board with water and scraped that calendar page off, happy to have those scary little girls out of my sight.   I added some paint and some stain and then a happy little quote about families.   An old chippy hinge (from the ReHouse store) that looks like a butterfly sits on one of the corners.
