The “Painted Sisters” in San Francisco is one of those things I always hoped to see someday. I didn’t know how I’d ever get all the way to California from all the way over in New York. It’s a “bucket list” destination and someday when I write a bucket list, I’ll put the Painted Sisters down and check it off. Thank you NTID for sending my husband on a trip that I totally enjoyed. I took a five hour guided tour of the city which included all of the big San Francisco sights: Chinatown, Ferry ride past Alcatraz, Sausalito, Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39, Lombardo Street and a few others.
I loved seeing the architecture and hearing about the history of this beautiful city. If I ever go back, I’d love to take an architectural tour with a historian. I don’t need to see the Fortune Cookie Factory again or hear the hilarious facts and myths of San Francisco. Tell me about paint colors and trim and let me gawk at beautiful bejeweled houses.
I bought a few books through Amazon about San Francisco’s architecture and I read them before bed, studying the shapes and paint combinations. Some of the painted ladies have 12 or 15 different shades of paint! WHAT?
I obviously live in the most boring house POSSIBLE……
