About a year ago I picked up a king sized headboard on trash day and threw it into the back of my truck. The truck was new and sparkly; the headboard was old and dirty. I didn’t need a king sized headboard. Not at all. We don’t have a king sized bed, although I would love one. We sleep close together and an extra kid usually sneaks in during the night. But I thought the curved lines were pretty and it was destined for the landfill. (c’mon people! List it for free on Craig’s List or something! Save the earth!)
You can see a small portion it in the picture to the left. I cut the legs off and sprayed it turquoise. WHOA! It looked so pretty! I added black glaze to the entire piece to tone down the shiny bright color. Then it sat in the garage for about a year while I tried to think what to do with it. I tried a few different knobs, but couldn’t find anything the right size or length. Until one day I made a special trip out to Hobby Lobby. It’s pretty far away, but I knew they were having 50% off all hardware that day so it was worth the time investment. I spent $12.50 on the hooks, which is a great deal for super cute flower hooks. If they had a fifth matching hook I would have taken it too, but had to make due with a round knob.
You can see this piece is HUGE and I don’t have anywhere to hang this in my house!I think it would be a great coat hanger for a large mud room, or doctor’s office. It is hanging out at the ReHouse for a while until someone buys and takes it home.
