Brian and Joshua share the same birthday- September 19th. It’s pretty amazing, right? Out of 365 possible dates, they landed on the same one. But to tell you the truth, the awesomeness is wearing a little thin as the years go on and on. This is the eleventh time we have celebrated both of them. It would be easier to celebrate them on separate days, so that’s what we did! Joshua had friends over on Saturday night (cupcakes and ice cream) , we invited two families over for a BBQ on Sunday night (ice cream cake) and then finally we get to the actual birth date. Monday is a terrible day for a birthday, but celebrate we must.
The girls helped me make birthday candy gram posters. And by help, I mean they added a couple pieces of tape and moaned about wanting to eat the candy. It’s hard being around candy-I totally get it. We visited Brian at work for a few minutes to drop off his candy poster. They love going to RIT, so it was easy to snap some huge grins.
This is the first year that the girls get home before Joshua. He’s in middle school! He got off the bus to see this candy note and was pretty excited.
This is how the note is supposed to read:
Daddy, We want to TAKE 5 minutes to tell you that life is so much BUTTERFINGER (better) with you. Thanks for making us SNICKER and LAUGH! Even when you are a GOOBER, we love you to PIECES. Have an EXTRA special birthday! Love, your JUNIOR MINTS
This was a really fun present to give!
September is my birthday month and I am challenging myself to be intentionally generous, thoughtful, giving towards strangers, people I love and myself throughout the month. My challenge is to find 38 ways to celebrate my 38 years on earth. Some of them might take some planning, some time, some money and others might be things I need to get off my to do list or my “want to do list”. I hope some of them will be spontaneous, mindful moments.
Do you want to see what else I did to celebrate my birthday this year?
