Always wear your best clothes because you never know when there might be a fire. Words of wisdom from Grace (7 years old)
“Technically,” Grace insisted,” Brealynn is my other sister because we have the same last name and we are in the same family.” (She does have the last name Trager, but technically is a cousin.)
“You have a dangerous hobby.” Brian declared when he almost stepped on a sharp sewing needle that was on the floor.
I asked Grace to look outside the window and check if we got any snow overnight.
“Nope. No snow, but there is frosting on the grass.” she reported back to me.
“It’s 7:49am, A.K.A. 7:50!” Grace loves to say A.K.A. (also known as) and it sounds like she is learning to round numbers up in math class.
“Why doesn’t daddy ever grow any freckles?” Grace asked me one day. Good question, baby….
“Mom, did you know I can tell the future?” Joshua asked me. Of course I was surprised to hear he had been gifted with such powers, so I asked him to tell me more. “I can dream about the future and then it happens a few months later. It happened to me in September.” Again, I was surprised and asked what he dreamed about that came true. “I can’t remember.” he said, looking a little embarrassed. I think this is one of the big reasons God gives kids mothers- so they can try out their strange little stories on someone who won’t make fun of them.
Comforting Kaylee, I said “Sometimes you get a cousin that you like and sometimes God gives you a cousin that you LOVE.” She was devastated to say goodbye to her favorite cousin after a quick trip to see family in Indiana.
